"Abide in my love"

Abide in my love; He keeps repeating to me.

When things are tough, or you do not know which decision to make, or you are locked in your house because of a pandemic and do not know what the future holds... Abide in my love!

There is so much comfort in these words because I know that with His love comes peace, with His peace comes freedom, and with His freedom comes endless joy! So why is it so difficult for me to do so every day? Why is it such a challenge to let go and trust in Him?

Even if I know that He loves me and cares for me, that He provides for all my needs at the perfect time and always wants the best for me... it is still a challenge to surrender all things to Him and abide in His love like He wants me to do.

I truly desire to grow in abandonment to His will, to be able to hear His voice louder than any moment of fear, anger, or doubt! I want to be able to love Him and the people in my life with even more detachment so that I could share a love that is completely pure and selfless.

But the truth is, I will never be able to achieve these things on my own. And here I find my answers! It is hard for me to fully abide in His love because I try to do it without His help. It is hard to let go, to trust in Him, and to become a better person when I rely only on myself.

Abide in my love, and let me help you! What parent would let their baby take their first steps without standing nearby and protecting their little one? It is the same with Him! He would never ask me to achieve something I really struggle with and leave me on my own.

I now realize that His help is coming in so many different forms! A kind word from a loved one, a Zoom meeting with my friends, an inspiring book or movie, a moment of silence and heart to heart talk with Him, a beautiful sunset or sunrise, a nice workout session at home...

In a time when we cannot be sure about anything that is happening in our world, we can be assured that if we genuinely want Him in our life, He will come to help! Yet, He loves us way more than we could ever understand, so He gives us the total freedom to choose...

Will you let me help you? Will you abide in my love?
